Job Duties: Berkeley College, located in West Paterson, NJ is seeking an experienced professional to assume leadership of the College's planning and assessment activities. Reporting directly to the President, the successful candidate will direct and support the work of the Institutional Strategic Planning Committee that is currently preparing to develop the College's second, long-term plan as well as related sub-committees. The Director will also organize, refine, coordinate and institutionalize processes for assessing student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness in order to enhance student learning and improve College operations.
The incumbent will develop and sustain an effective support structure for an integrated senior administrative team and will ensure College wide adherence to the goals and priorities set by the President. The Director will also handle a wide range of materials of institutional importance on behalf of the President.

Essential Responsibilities Include:
1. Organize and direct an inclusive process for updating the College's Strategic Plan.
2. Design and implement strategies for ensuring that the College's various constituents (faculty, administrators, staff, students and alumni) have and are aware of channels that promote their participation in strategic planning.
3. Refine and implement policies and procedures that promote community awareness of the strategic plan and ensure that the plan is given primary consideration in decisions affecting the allocation of institutional resources.
4. In collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research, develop and administer a comprehensive, sustained program for assessing student learning and institutional effectiveness.
5. Design and deliver workshops to educate faculty and administrators about assessment strategies that pertain to their disciplines and their departments.
6. Develop and maintain an assessment resource library that provides faculty and administrators with information on best practices in assessment; effective assessment tools (including surveys and rubrics).
7. Develop a process for tracking progress of strategic planning activities, academic program reviews and departmental institutional effectiveness plans.
8. Prepare an annual report on assessment that details ways in which assessment initiatives have resulted in enhanced student learning and improved institutional operations.
9. Present an annual report to the Strategic Planning Committee identifying academic and administrative areas where assessment activities have identified needs for improvement.
10. Represent the President in a variety of internal and external meetings.
11. Other duties as assigned by the President.

Qualifications: Master's degree required, PhD preferred. Must have minimum five years of related experience in an institution of higher education. Excellent written and presentation skills, time management skills, interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent judgment, strong sense of discretion, familiarity with broader higher education policy issues and thorough knowledge of current theory and practice in institutional planning and assessment required. This position will require travel to other campuses in NJ and NY area.
